Daryl Thompson
The third generation of a citrus family, entrepreneur Daryl Thompson
began his inventing career at the age of 9 when he created invented
a solar-powered hotdog cooker. While a freshman in college, he started
his own bioassay lab, and has since gone on to develop juice products
with fortified calcium and Vitamin E for a national citrus company.
After much research and study of both the chemical makeup of grapefruit
and its affects on the human metabolism, he created CitraSens™ Grapefruit
Solution capsules in 1999, while still in his early 30s.
Along with his brother, Alan, and two business partners, Daryl
formed Diaeta, Inc. in Winter Haven, Florida. Diaeta, Inc. is an
enterprise devoted to research and marketing CitraSens™ products
as well as promoting the Grapefruit Solution Plan. The company began
with a website, getyourgrapefruit.com, and then soon hit the national
market with capsules that were sold at General Nutrition Centers
and elsewhere throughout the United States. This book, The Grapefruit
Solution, is an outgrowth of his desire to share his own personal
success with the grapefruit plan, as well as the successes of those
who have tried it, lost weight, and improved their health.
Daryl divides his time between his office and The Ranch, a rural
retreat in the middle of the citrus groves outside of Winter Haven,
Florida, which he enjoys sharing with his family and friends.

Dr. Joe Ahrens
A fifth-generation Floridian, Joe Ahrens was raised in the "Citrus
Belt" of Pasco County. He played in grapefruit groves as a child
and devoted much of his adult life to working with the development
of health foods, including cut and peeled baby carrots for healthy
snacking and pre-cut lettuce for use in restaurants throughout the
US.
His first love is citrus and his academic degrees reflect that.
Along with receiving a Masters degree in Plant Physiology from the
University of Florida, Joe has also earned a Doctorate in the same
field from that university. He's worked twice for the Florida Department
of Citrus, first early in his career as in the lab and then in 2001
as the Director of Scientific Research. Today he's the vice-president
of science at the Citraceutic Corporation in Winter Haven, Florida.
When not promoting or doing research on the benefits of grapefruit,
Joe resides in Florida with his wife, Lynne, his four children,
and three grandchildren.
